"Dog training is not just about rewarding or punishing a particular behavior. Dealing with the underlying emotion that leads to the behavior is essential to any lasting treatment. When dogs rely on our emotional reactions to assess a situation as safe, neutral or fun, it becomes even more important for us to learn how to control ourselves, how to be mindful of our own fears. Anxiety, stress, joy and excitement are all contagious and lead to different reactions. We hold the ability to influence how our dog feels about the world and the more confident and positive we are, the more confidence and positive curiosity the dog will develop. Jennifer Cattet Ph.D."

Mya Starts Puppy Agility Foundation Class

"Confidence is built in successful experiences, not numbers of repetitions. Feeling overwhelmed or afraid or unsure time and again just practices that state of being. Pups may learn to endure, but that is a far cry from enjoyment.
High quality experiences leave the pup feeling good, wanting more, and knowing more than prior to that specific experience. The pup thinks, "Wow - that was fun!"
Mindful socialization matters. Because life is not a checklist." Suzanne Clothier

Willow's Excitement at "WAG-IT" Games Seminar ;o)

Overnight snow flurries and wild wind, had us fearing that we wouldn't be able to get up the driveway at 7:30am to get to Willow's first Seminar and special 1:1 time ... but the added 2" snowcover/16 degree temps caused some slidding, but we were up the driveway and onto the sanded snowy roads ... the sky was blue and the early morning sunshine made for a wonderful outlook ;o)

Hoops, jumps, ladder, cones!
Scent games
(treats in one bottle, one container & one tent)

"Cavaletti" Jump series!
(jump-sit, jump-sit, jump-sit to start!)
270 degree Hoop jump
(yellow to purple hoop, turn left & jump green to green hoops)

Walk forward with 2 paws each ladder space!
Tippy Board on a ball
2 front feet in yellow, then 2 front feet
in red etc around the board!

Instructor Dee Ganley demonstrating "Scent Work"
(dogs are to find treats hidden in one bottle, one container & one tent)
There were 11 teams of one dog & one handler!
( stairs, tunnel, hoops, down on mat)

Willow can be very hesitant and fearful of things that move, but today she was in her glory ... eagerly stepping on the "tippy board" and even pushing a 4-wheel scooter ... stepping on a "push lite" so it lit up and unrolling a rolled mat containing treats ... never saw a girl sooo happy!

OUR 1:1 DAY TOGETHER WAS A TOTAL SUCCESS and SUCH a HAPPY DAY WORKING TOGETHER ... DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT ;o)

Willow as we left the Seminar!
