- Well, the day has finally come for the "Volhard* Puppy Aptitude Test" for the SunKissed "Galaxy" litter and we'll see how the "Enrichment Center" has helped in their success ... Test is done in an area unfamiliar to the pups ... there are 10 parts to the entire test with reaction scores 1-6:
- SOCIAL ATTRACTION ... tester claps to coax pup to him/her
- FOLLOWING ... tester stands and walks away, to see if pup will follow
- RESTRAINT ... tester gently rolls pup on back and holds for 30 seconds
- SOCIAL DOMINANCE ... tester sits and strokes pup from head to tail
- ELEVATION DOMINANCE ... tester bends over and lifts/holds pup slightly off floor for 30 seconds
- RETRIEVING ... tester attracts pup with crumpled paper ball and tosses it 4-6 feet
- TOUCH SENSITIVITY ... tester presses firmly between pups toes till response, then stops if pup pulls away
- SOUND SENSITIVITY ... tester or assistant makes sharp noise with metal spoon on pan
- SIGHT SENSITIVITY ... tester dangles/shakes a towel on a string to intice interaction
- STRUCTURE ... evaluation on puppy's structure/soundness
